The Children's Alliance

Children's Home Society of NC

CHS has been serving for more than a century, with programs built on our mission of promoting the right of every child to a permanent, safe and loving family.  Founded in 1902, CHS has placed more than 15,000 children loving, adoptive homes.  But while CHS is perhaps best known for our work related to foster care and adoption, we are much more than a placement agency.

Today, CHS has one of the most comprehensive and seamless offerings and family support services in the state - providing programs in parenting education, teen pregnancy prevention, foster care and adoption - all from one agency.  Specific CHS initiatives include working to prevent teen pregnancy, providing education and support for parents having difficulty maintaining a stable family setting for their children, and supporting the efforts of public social services agencies to preserve families.  Through our programs, CHS serves over 16,00 children and families each year with a statewide staff and offices in 10 cities in North Carolina.
